Black History's treasure of African-American books is an eclectic lot, with volumes celebrating every segment of the black experience. No matter what your interests, there's always something to uphold and be recognizant of our heritage in literary lore. It’s all about fiction with a difference and with a decidedly colorful underside. When it comes to recalling those before us who paved the way, we can only marvel at whom we emulate, and boy do we have choices! In this new installment of The Romer Review, we hope to pour libation and give homage to the some of these classics. There’s no way we can name them all, but a few that are memorable for style and substance are included therein, and those that have defined what we consider must reads. You will notice too, that most are books that are on lists that colleges designate for in-dept study. What better way to u se literature to educate and amplify that authors’ voices, and to weave the African-American presence into the fabric of American history?

In the process I will share with you 'The Book that Changed My Life' depicted in The Muse Online. Invisible Man is a book like no other, and it merits scrutiny for the value of going much deeper to discern the meaning of who you really are. Other gems a bound in this new issue. I discovered my featured author by assessing where I am at this stage of my life. I’m making changes and venturing into new territory. In my quest to choose a highlighted venue for an author, I came across a book that had everything to do with hastening my desire to reinvent myself. Verna Foster Harvey and her debut offering, GROWING GOD’S WAY has the stage. Reading this book will get you to thinking; of this I’m sure!
